Summer 2011, Part 1

I am SO enjoying this summer! I was a little worried Rachel might get bored after being so busy this last school year with all her classes, but she's taken well to having days of leisure. For me, it's reminded me of when I was in school and had time to go to the pool and watch movies in the afternoons :) (though we do splash pads mostly...easier for Mom when they're this age!). Here's some pictures of what we've been doing to stay busy.

This is from her last day of preschool. We are so excited that she's going to be in Ms. Cori's class again next year!

William is getting SO BIG! He learns how to do something new everyday. Just today he learned to climb up and sit on top of this table....:P

I don't know how this happened, but he was not happy about it!

Making homemade noodles

These two have been thick as thieves this summer, playing and harrassing each other like crazy (and it's pretty mutual on both parts...no one so far has gotten the upperhand in irritating the other yet!). But they get along way more than they pick at one another.

My mom and sister came down for a visit in late May. We had a really good time and Rachel really enjoyed getting to play with her Aunt Lydia! Can you find Lydia in the picture? Maybe it'd be easier if her socks were red and white striped! :) Rachel called this the "pillow machine"

William showing off his Blue Angels tshirt my dad got him while they were on vacation.

Playing jacks with her Grandmama

And enjoying tea and cookies, something no visit from my mom and sister would be complete without :)

Gotta go put Rachel to bed...hopefully i'll get more pictures posted tomorrow!

Rachel's Busy Weekend

We had one super busy weekend in April. We went to Scarborough Renaissance Faire (which has gotten a lot more fun now that Rachel's old enough to enjoy some of it though William is still a year or so away from doing more than just riding around in his stroller). Then on Sunday Joshua took Rachel to an air show in Fort Worth with his parents. William and I stayed home and chilled since he doesn't care for loud noises....yet..... :P

Pictures from Scarborough

She always gets the best views; this one of the parade.

Rachel saw a girl with decorative face paint and she HAD to do it herself. She pestered and begged until we finally gave in :)

Enjoying a roasted turkey leg (kind of a must-do at any Ren Faire)

Riding one of the war horses that work the joust (that's our friend Maggie leading them)
And finally enjoying some medieval music (her dress is hiding her legs which are actually on the bench; it was just her feet that dangled but i love the effect!)

Pictures from the air show; since I wasn't there I don't have too much commentary, but you can see much fun was had by all! :)

Walkin' the line (with ear protection)

Checking out some WWII aircraft with her PapaT

Spring Bluebonnets

These were taken back in April at the dam on Lake Texoma near the Oklahoma border. It was an incredibly windy day, as you'll see. We were very happy with the results though (thanks to the digital camera; there were lots of goofy ones too, most involving windswept hair issues!).

Here's a look at the area from afar
Some of the kids together

Our favorite one of Rachel and William together (notice his pink cheeks...he gets the slightest bit warm and his cheeks light up!).

I love this one; I think it'd look cool all in black and white except for the flowers.

Easter 2011

We spent the Easter holiday at my parents' place in Little Rock and had a really nice time, as you'll see below!

Check out the awesome room my parents made up for the kids! They did such an awesome job!

And the daybed makes out into a trundle, so when they're older they can bunk together!

The Easter bunny found the kids even though we weren't at our house. There was much excitement over the Peeps! Rachel came and woke me up to show off her Peeps! (and yes, i have cropped myself out of this picture!)

Here Rachel explains how to properly eat a Peep. According to her, and i have NO idea where she came up with this, one must "squish the head" of a Peep before eating it. Maybe that's more humane??? :)

Dying eggs with her Daddy

My aunt reading a story to both kids at once...a feat in itself!

Here's some live-action egg-dying

No Apologies...

I feel terrible that I haven't posted in so long, but it's been crazy busy. I have a bunch of pictures to post and i'm going to try to do it as quickly as possible. So here goes! :)

We have a picture almost exactly like this of Rachel about this age waking up in our bed.
These little counting bears toys are so fun that Rachel doesn't realize that they're educational!

It's like Bruce Jenner went to Mardi Gras in 1978!

Rachel loves any excuse to get to use her new Tinkerbell umbrella, but it was pretty cold this night and she wasn't out in it for long.

It's moves like this that keep my on my toes all day long!
They are so sweet with one another; I couldn't be happier about it! I'm just hoping they're still like this when they're teens!
"Don't look at me! I didn't do it!"

"Mmmmm! Rootbeer!"
We celebrated Mother's Day and my father in law's birthday with a feast of lobster...
...crabs...
...and what you can't tell is also calamari, frog legs, hush puppies, and corn on the cob.Next up...Easter 2011 :)
